Dhaka Medical College and Hospital is a public medical college and hospital located in Dhaka,
the capital city of Bangladesh. Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) is the oldest tertiary-level hospital located.
This hospital started its journey on 10 July 1946 as 200 bedded field hospital for the British Indian armed forces.

World diabetes day 2021

World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus and is held on
14 November each year. Led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), each World Diabetes Day focuses
on a theme related to diabetes; type-2 diabetes is a largely preventable and treatable non-communicable disease
that is rapidly increasing in numbers worldwide.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital

Department of endocrinology started its journey in 2008. Since its inception, the department of endocrinology is serving patients through inpatient & outpatient department. Also helping to manage patient of other department when they seek for it. Despite of certain limitation, it is providing highest service to patient with endocrine disease at govt level. In addition to giving treatment to the patient, it is serving as a centre of manpower development in the field of endocrinology. Department is conducting MD course in endocrinology under BSMMU since 2018. It is accredited by BCPS for full duration training for FCPS in Endocrinology & metabolism.

Department of endocrinology also involved in patient education regarding healthy behavior & conducting program for public awareness though training session, miking, distributing leaflets & different seminar & symposium.

Message From Head Of The Department

Bangladesh has a burden of 1.3 crore diabetic & 5 crore patient with thyroid disease. Other endocrine diseases are less known not because of they are rare, rather they are less addressed. Department of endocrinology is bent on providing all necessary services to the community. Despite of limitations, we are providing highest possible service through indoor & outdoor. Academic activity of the department guided by dynamic faculties helping manpower development in the field of endocrinology. We are focusing on new development in the field of endocrinology by ongoing research. Hopefully department of endocrinology will be the role model for all academic & clinical institutions.
